The time finally arrives every year in May – the season in Galitzenklamm gorge opens.
But what exactly is the Galitzenklamm gorge in East Tyrol?
The reply is actually pretty simple – it is the adventure park on the Drau cycle trail.
A few key words: beautiful, exciting, fun, playful and sporty. You can have all that in Galitzenklamm gorge at once.
A water ‘show’ trail which is just teeming with spectacular bridges and steep cliff faces. The Galitzenbach river whooshes full of adventure and spectacularly into the valley.
The Lienz Dolomites sit enthroned above it all, you can also observe the climbers from a safe distance.
When you have done enough watching, you can venture on to the different leveled via ferrata routes.
After all the adventures, what about heading to a snack station (restaurant, pub)?
To the water play area for kids or to the stone sphere mill? Or maybe in the forest rope park to add a little bit more adventure to your experiences th?
Galitzenklamm is a great fun for all the fammilies and individuals, you can can get different feelings after on a rafting osttirol trip.
Oberlebnig - Small cabin
Oberleibnig is located just behind and above our rafting base in St. Johann im Walde.
Oberleibnig is a fraction of the town of St. Johann im Walde, Osttirol. The very nice mountain village lies on the eastern side of the Isel Valley in 1,244 meters above sea level, the height difference between the two locations is 500m.
In Oberleibnig is the landmarked Maria Schnee Chapel from the 17th century, fantastic view is the prize for those who visite it. You will find several musst see sights here
You can take your bike on the cabin and ride back, as you want. The lift is in front of our rafting Osttirol base on the other side of the bridge. Just next to the fire brigade (5 euro / person one way).
The OSTTIRODLER is Austria’s most spectacular Alpine Coaster.
You can toboggan down the 2.9 kilometer. Osttirodler run from the Moosalm via Lienz’s Schlossberg right to the finish area in the Hochstein Arena.
You can find the entry easely if you leave Lienz to Matrei direction, on the left hand side. There is ski cabins wich will take you up to the Osttirodler. On the top of the lifts you will find adventure parks, a little zoo and restaurants. So, better if you have time to take a look , there is lots of things to see. After a sports rafting Osttirol tour it is a fantastic fun.
Direct link to OSTTIRODLER (videos, prices, safety, how to get there..)
This waterfall has several names, on the map it is called Haslacher wasserfall, on the Internet Staniskabach wasserfall but on location it is called the Schleierfall.
The Haslacher wasserfall is one of the bigger waterfall in Tirol (Austria) and is located in the Kalsertal, just after the Hamlet Staniska.
From road number 108 (driving to the south from Matrei in Osttirol), it is only a short ride into the Kalsertal. In the beginning the road (L26) will go steep up, but after a while the road becomes normal . Here the Staniskabach wasserfall shows up on the right of the road. In front of the Staniskabach wasserfall is a parking lot where you can admire this amazing waterfall.
The Staniskabach wasserfall is a beautiful, powerful waterfall, very photogenic and easy to reach. The river Staniskabach thunders down over 40 meters but it looks much higher.
I visited the waterfall twice (see photographs) and in summertime the volume is much bigger. The Staniskabach wasserfall falls towards the west-northwest, so visiting the waterfall in teh afternoon would be best.
Lienz, East Tyrol's main town, lying in the shadow of the Dolomites, is the southern terminus of roads to the Grossglockner and Felbertauern. It is most lively in Summer, when the main square is full with palm trees, flowers and café terraces and ofcourse tousend smile people.
There is a swimming pool (Dolomitenbad) with spectacular wiew, Lienz is the sunniest town of Austria.
